Literature Review -Capstone Change Project Evaluation Plan
Work with your preceptor to identify a clinically NRS 493 Benchmark Capstone Project Change Proposal change theory and NURS FPX 4010 Assessment 3 Stakeholder Presentation nursing practice intervention. Identify a list of measurable outcomes and rationales for the proposed intervention.
Complete the "NRS-493 Individual Success Plan" assignment in LoudCloud to identify your progress toward the required practice hours (50 community/50 leadership). Review and submit the "Student Evaluation of Preceptor" form.
Students will conduct a literature review to locate research that supports the topic of their capstone project. They will use the PICOT framework to focus their search and locate relevant studies. They will utilize the databases subscribed to by their educational institution and Google Scholar. They will investigate articles that are published in any country and written in English over a ten-year lookback period.
Students will create a “Critical Appraisal of a Literature Study” (CAPS) for each article. A CAPS is a document that provides an NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 1 Assessing the Problem at-a-glance summary of the method, findings, and study limitations for each selected article. It is a simple but effective tool for managing information in the course of the literature review process. A CAP also helps to demonstrate the student’s ability to critically appraise research.
PICOT Question
NRS 493 students work with their course mentor and review assigned readings to formulate a PICOT question for their capstone project change proposal. A PICOT question identifies a clinical nursing problem, a nursing practice intervention to address that problem, a comparison of that intervention to existing practices and an outcome and time frame for implementing the proposed change.
The PICOT question is an essential part of the research process, as it is a consistent "formula" for developing answerable, researchable questions. It can help you focus your search for scholarly articles, reduce the amount of time spent searching, and make more confident evidence-based decisions in your clinical practice. The PICOT question also focuses your attention on what you are really trying to find – evidence that will improve patient outcomes.
Objectives
After conducting research and NURS FPX 4900 Assessment 4 Patient Family or Population uniting information, students are expected to foster a proposal that aims to resolve the issue, idea, initiative or instructive need recognized in the PICOT question paper. The proposal must incorporate a reasoning, a nitty gritty NRS 493 Individual Success Plan including a strategy and timeline and an evaluation of the potential outcomes.
To do this, the student must work with their approved mentor and perform a needs assessment of their clinical practicum site. The assessment should identify current issues like nurse turnover, the inability to achieve zero CLABSIs and inadequate management training. These are all problems that need to be addressed to improve patient care and reduce staff burnout. Moreover, the change proposal must include stakeholder support as this will ensure that the project is implemented successfully.
Outcomes
After completing their literature review, students identify the PICOT question that they will use for their capstone project change proposal. This question is based on the research they have completed and must include a patient population, an intervention (nursing practice), a comparison with another group, an outcome, and a time frame.
Using this information, students will work with their preceptor to perform a needs assessment of the organization in which NURS FPX 6011 Assessment 2 Traumatic Brain Injury they are practicing. This will help them determine the potential impact of their nursing practice intervention on this organizational culture.
The students will then identify and evaluate the resources they have available to implement their proposed nursing practice intervention. They will also create a plan to evaluate the impact of the initiative on nurse retention and other outcomes.
Evaluation Plan
After completing the Literature Evaluation Table, students should collaborate with their preceptor to determine the appropriate and highest priority questions that will be addressed in the capstone change project. This step will allow the student to narrow the focus of the project and thereby reduce research time by eliminating articles that do not answer the project’s questions.
The next step is to search the literature for information that supports the PICOT question and critically evaluate each article. The RN-to-BSN MBA FPX 5010 Assessment 3 Performance Evaluation student should be careful not to let their preferred method of evaluation guide the selection of questions, as this could result in the evaluation being incomplete or flawed.
In this step, the student and program should also decide how the results of the evaluation will be shared with stakeholders and funders. This will be important to ensure the validity of the results and that they are used appropriately for the intended purposes.
